Getting Started
What is GameTree's Discord LFG bot?
GameTree is a Discord bot that helps you find teammates for any game in seconds. Type /lfg to create a session, and the bot automatically invites your friends and compatible players who are online and playing the same game.
Works for PC, console, and mobile games — no lengthy signups or complex setup required.
How do I add GameTree to my Discord server?
Click the Add GameTree Bot to Discord button at the top of this page.
You'll need Manage Server permissions to add the bot. Once added, type /lfg to create your first session — it works immediately, no configuration needed.
What makes GameTree different from other LFG bots?
Personality-based matching. Most LFG bots match you with random players who happen to be online. GameTree finds teammates with compatible communication styles and playstyles.
Use the bot without an account for quick matches, or link a GameTree account to unlock smart matching that learns who you vibe with.

Personality Matching & GameTree Account
How does GameTree's personality matching work?
GameTree uses MBTI-style personality profiling combined with gaming preferences to find compatible teammates. When you create an account, you answer questions about:
- Communication style — voice vs. text, callouts vs. banter
- Playstyle — competitive vs. casual, aggressive vs. supportive
- Gaming values — what matters most to you in games
The bot uses this to prioritize invites to players with compatible personalities, reducing toxicity and increasing chemistry.

- Personality-based matching — Find teammates with compatible communication styles and playstyles
- Detailed player profiles — View MBTI types, gaming preferences, favorite games, and session history
- Cross-platform friends — Sync Steam, Epic, Xbox, and PlayStation friends automatically
- Gaming stats & history — Track sessions, favorite squadmates, and games played together
- Better toxicity filtering — Avoid players with incompatible communication styles or reported behavior
Finding Gaming Teammates
What's the best way to find people to play games with online?
Use an LFG bot in Discord. Type /lfg and find teammates in 60 seconds instead of posting in LFG channels and waiting for replies.
GameTree automatically invites compatible players who are online, prioritizes your friends, and filters for personality compatibility. It's faster and more effective than Reddit, Twitter, or manual Discord server searching.
How do I avoid toxic players when looking for teammates?
GameTree has multiple layers to help you avoid toxic players:
- Personality screening (with account) — The bot deprioritizes players with incompatible communication styles.
- Post-session reporting — After every session, you can report toxic behavior. Repeat offenders get banned from the LFG system.
- Friends-only mode — Type
/visibility friendsto only receive invites from people on your friends list - Block & mute — Use
/preferencesto block specific hosts or mute invites from players you've had bad experiences with
How do I find teammates for ranked or competitive games?
When creating an LFG, use the description field to specify requirements like "Diamond 2+ only" or "Need IGL, comms required."
Players see your description before joining, so they self-filter. GameTree prioritizes inviting players with similar ranks and competitive playstyles (if you've linked an account).
How do I find a consistent gaming squad instead of one-time teammates?
GameTree makes it easy to turn one-time teammates into your regular squad:
- Add to friends list — After a good session, type
/friends add [username]. Friends get priority invites for your future LFGs. - Check friend sessions — Type
/sessionsto see active sessions your friends are in. - Schedule regular play times — Use
/lfgwith a future date/time to organize recurring sessions
Can I find both competitive and casual teammates?
Yes! GameTree adapts to your needs:
- For competitive play: Add "ranked," "competitive," or "tryhard" in your LFG description.
- For casual play: Use "chill," "casual," or "just messing around" to attract laid-back players
How do I find teammates for less popular or niche games?
GameTree works for any multiplayer game, but niche games require a slightly different approach:
- Schedule sessions in advance — Use
/lfgwith a future date/time, posted 24-48 hours early. - Build a dedicated friend list — When you find other players who enjoy your niche game, add them immediately.
- Use detailed descriptions — Explain what the game is and what role/playstyle you need.
GameTree supports 200,000+ games through IGDB's database. If your game isn't in the dropdown, you can type it manually.

Why am I not receiving LFG invites?
Check these common issues:
- Discord DMs blocked — Go to User Settings → Privacy & Safety → Allow direct messages from server members
- Status set to hidden — Type
/visibility public - Offline or invisible — GameTree only invites online users
- Game activity not showing — User Settings → Activity Status → Enable "Display current activity"
My LFG session isn't starting — what's wrong?
GameTree only sends invites after you join the voice channel.
After typing /lfg, GameTree creates a private voice channel and DMs you the link. Join the voice channel to start inviting players.
